At Home with Leonie & Albert
When Leonie noticed Albert’s usual energy and enthusiasm were waning she became worried and reached out to Warrigal Connect.
Together with Aunty Leonie and Uncle Albert Warrigal Connect was able to tailor our Home Essentials community package to put Albert in touch with the Aboriginal Men’s Support Group. The group chauffeurs Uncle Albert to and from their meetings where he gets to spend time with new mates.
Aunty Leonie is delighted with the arrangement and is certain the connections he is making there have made him more positive and happy.
With her days a little bit more free she has joined the Aboriginal Women’s Support Group. Our Warrigal shuttle transports her to the group and she enjoys getting together with her own friends, doing craft, sharing stories and having a laugh.
Warrigal’s Home Essentials Community options allow Aunty Leonie and Uncle Albert to stay connected to their community both as a couple and as individuals. They always have plenty to talk about when they get home.
Getting to know Leonie and Albert
Leonie and Albert are Aboriginal elders. Due to a health condition and limited mobility, Albert has been housebound. Leonie is his primary carer.
